Elon Musk’s rocket exploded during a test flight

Elon Musk’s company SpaceX conducted the eighth test of the Starship rocket, which ended in an explosion. As a result, flights were delayed at several airports in Texas. About this informs CNN.

The rocket launched from the SpaceX Starbase in South Texas. 20 seconds before the end of the climb stage, communication with her was lost, and several engines were seen shutting down during the broadcast. The exact location of the explosion is still unknown, but it is likely to have occurred over the Caribbean Sea, as residents of that region have reported the event.

Because of the explosion, the US Federal Civil Aviation Administration temporarily stopped flights at four airports in the country, citing the threat of falling space debris. SpaceX said it immediately coordinated its actions with security services and activated planned emergency response measures.

“We will analyze the data from today’s flight test to better understand the root cause. As always, success comes from what we learn, and today’s flight will offer additional lessons to improve the reliability of Starship.” – the company said.

Recall that in September 2024, Elon Musk announced plans for SpaceX to launch about five Starship rockets to Mars over the next two years to study its surface and prepare for future manned missions.
