Iran denies accusations of transferring ballistic missiles to Russia

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has strongly rejected accusations that Iran has transferred ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine. He stated this on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter), commenting on Western media reports.

“I have clearly said and I repeat once again: we did not provide Russia with ballistic missiles. If Europe needs something to calm down Israel’s blackmail, it is better to find another story,” the minister wrote.

Araqchi added that military cooperation between Iran and Russia has a long history and began long before the Russian aggression against Ukraine. He stressed that such cooperation is traditional and not related to the current conflict. However, he categorically denied any new deliveries of missile systems to Moscow.

In his speech, Arakci also accused European countries of double standards. He noted that Western states are actively arming Israel by providing it with modern weapons systems, while supporting it in its military actions against Iran. According to him, Europe is indirectly involved in the conflicts in the Middle East, while criticising other countries for military cooperation.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran had allegedly transferred short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, citing sources among US and European officials. According to the sources, the transfer of missiles took place as part of the strengthening of military relations between Moscow and Tehran, which, according to some analysts, have intensified since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
