Russian assets worth 300 billion frozen by Europe should be returned to Ukraine: Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Europe to make a decisive decision and transfer $300 billion of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. He said this during a press conference after participating in the European Political Community summit in Budapest.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine cannot rely on US support alone.
‘Everyone says, what will you do if Trump does not support you financially? Where will you get weapons? How will you defend yourself? I am answering you. Is it possible for us to take the 300 billion due to us… Is it possible for us to decide for ourselves what kind of weapons we need? Can we decide for ourselves what to do with this money? Can none of the European countries block this money?’ Zelenskyy said.
He also stressed that the Kremlin values money, not people. In his opinion, an important lesson for Russia will be that its frozen assets will be used for the benefit of Ukraine.
‘Russian assets. I want to thank every leader who defends Ukraine’s right to use funds from Russian assets to defend itself against Russian aggression. The Russian state values neither people nor morals – it values only money. And so it will also be a lesson for them when Russian assets operate in Ukraine. To be honest, this is Ukrainian money,’ Zelensky concluded.
