The consumer sentiment index of Ukrainians in June fell to 92.5 points from 98.4 in May. This is the lowest figure since the beginning of the year.
According to Info Sapiens, expectations regarding one’s own financial situation and the country’s economy as a whole worsened. Only 14% of respondents expect their financial situation to improve over the next 12 months, while 51% expect it to worsen.
“The current situation of the Ukrainian population is without significant changes, after 2022 the indicator shows a certain stabilization. However, in May 2024, we observe a significant deterioration in the consumer attitudes of the population of Ukraine, as well as economic expectations. Starting from 2023, these indicators show a general downward trend. A significant decline in May 2024 may be due to growing uncertainty (attacks on energy infrastructure, implementation of blackout schedules, domestic political issues)“, – analysts of Info Sapiens comment.
The propensity for large purchases also decreased. Only 19% expect that the near future will be a favorable time for expensive acquisitions.
In general, the index of consumer sentiment reflects the deterioration of the economic expectations of Ukrainians against the background of the ongoing war and related difficulties.
