Rustem Umerov announced the launch of a new format of defense cooperation between Ukraine and 12 European countries

Representatives of 12 European countries met for the first time in a new format of cooperation to support Ukraine. About this reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.

The countries of Northern Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland), the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), as well as Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Great Britain joined the new format. They joined forces to strengthen security and support Ukraine.

“I am grateful to my friend, the Minister of Defense of Denmark, for his leadership and hospitality. We agreed that the next meeting in the format of “Northern Group – Ukraine” will be held in Ukraine”Umerov said.

During the meeting, the participants discussed Ukraine’s priority needs and plans for 2025, as well as measures to quickly meet these needs. Considerable attention was paid to common threats, equipping combat brigades with heavy equipment and investments in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

“Investments in the Ukrainian defense industry are a separate priority. More and more countries are joining the financing of Ukrainian production, in particular within the framework of the Danish model: Sweden, Norway, Lithuania”, the minister added.

Umerov emphasized that these countries are leaders in supporting Ukraine: they were the first to provide modern battle tanks, long-range ammunition, air defense systems and F-16 fighter jets, and also actively invest in the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.
