SBI uncovers another corruption scheme during mobilisation

An illegal scheme organized by one of the employees was exposed in the Malinovsky Territorial Picking Center (TCC) in Odesa. By data of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), an employee of the center unauthorizedly interfered with the operation of the “Oberig” electronic database, correcting the data of conscripts for a reward of 4,000 to 7,000 dollars.

The scheme has been in effect since March 2023. For the money received, the official entered into the base false information about men’s unfitness for military service, which allowed them to evade mobilization and go abroad. Thus, the attacker provided the evaders with the opportunity to avoid conscription.

The employee of the TCC has already been notified of the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for unauthorized interference in the operation of information and communication systems. If he is found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The SBI is currently conducting an investigation to identify all individuals who benefited from this scheme. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is also being resolved.

It will be recalled that Tetyana Krupa, the head of the MSEK in Khmelnytskyi region, was arrested earlier, who also organized an illegal scheme for making money on evasion. The amount of bail for her was more than 500 million dollars.
