Russian troops advanced on the territory of the Kursk region and Donetsk region: DeepState

Analytical resource DeepState, which specializes in monitoring combat operations and updating the map of the front, reported about changing the line of confrontation in favor of Russian troops. In particular, according to their updated data, the occupiers have registered an advance in the border zone of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, as well as in the east of Ukraine – near the settlements of Yampolivka and Valentynivka in the Donetsk region.
These data were released on the night of April 13, 2025. DeepState does not specify the nature of the advance — whether it is the capture of new positions or only local changes in the gray zone, but the project map already shows a slight change in control over the specified areas.
We will remind, the Armed Forces recorded 95 combat clashes during the past day. The most active battles took place in the Kursk direction, where 23 clashes were recorded, and in the Pokrovsky direction (22 battles). Both of these sectors remain areas of heightened activity by Russian assault groups.
Advances in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation may indicate an intensification of hostilities along the border, in particular in an area previously used by the Russians as a springboard for attacks or conducting sabotage and reconnaissance operations. Currently, there is no confirmed information about the crossing of the state border line of Ukraine in this area, however, changes on the map may be related to military maneuvers or new attempts to put pressure on the border areas.
The situation in Donetsk remains extremely tense. The villages of Yampolivka and Valentynivka, located in the east of the region, have been under constant shelling for a long time, as well as in the zone of active combat contact. Their location is of operational importance for Ukrainian defense in the Lyman region, so attempts by Russian forces to gain a foothold in this zone are an element of wider pressure on Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region.
DeepState updates combat data daily based on open source information, field reports, and tracking geo-location changes. The situation remains dynamic, and the accuracy of the map is refined as new confirmed data comes in from the front.
