Scams with the sale of charging stations have intensified in Ukraine: the Ministry of Internal Affairs has given advice

With the approach of the winter period, many Ukrainians are actively preparing for possible challenges, in particular by purchasing charging stations to ensure power supply in case of interruptions. However, fraudsters did not miss the chance to use this situation for their own benefit, inventing new schemes of deception.
As informs Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, recently in Nikopol, the police exposed a fraudulent scheme based on the sale of non-existent charging stations. The scammer posted ads on social media with attractive offers to sell chargers. The main condition for the purchase was a prepayment of 5,000 hryvnias.
Buyers, succumbing to attractive conditions, transferred funds, but never received the ordered goods. According to the police, at least 7 people became victims of this attacker, who caused them significant financial losses. At present, the fraudster has been declared a suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
How to protect yourself from fraud when shopping online:
- Buy only in verified stores – before buying, be sure to check the reviews and reputation of the seller.
- Be wary of prices that are too low – if the offer seems too good, it could be a sign of a scam.
- Avoid prepayments – choose payment methods after receiving the goods to minimize risks.
