Several airports in Russia have suspended operations due to “external interference”

Several Russian airports have suspended or restricted operations due to “periodic external interference in their operations.” This was reported by the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation.
It was reported that flights were suspended at five airports: Ivanovo (“Yuzhny”), Kaluga (“Hrabtsevo”), Pskov, St. Petersburg (“Pulkovo”) and Tambov (“Donskoe”).
In Moscow, Sheremetyevo Airport canceled 171 flights for arrival and departure, another 56 flights were delayed for more than two hours. At “Pulkovo” 90 flights were canceled for arrival and departure, another 37 were delayed for departure. Chkalov airport in Nizhny Novgorod was affected by the longest restrictions: 26 flights on arrival and departure were canceled here, 13 were delayed on departure.
Rosaviatsia explained the restriction by the need to “ensure the safety of civil aviation flights.” At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that within five hours on Sunday, “48 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed.”
According to the agency, the largest number of drones was shot down in the Kaluga region — 13. In the Bryansk region — ten, in the Moscow region — nine, in the Belgorod and Smolensk regions — six each, in the Leningrad region — two, and in the Kursk and Novgorod regions — one each.
