Iran transferred ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation: the reaction of the USA
Russia has received a batch of ballistic missiles from Iran, which are likely to have a short range. About this informs The Wall Street Journal, noting that Tehran has provided Moscow with another powerful tool to continue the war against Ukraine.
According to the publication, the transfer of missiles took place at a time when Russia intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, which led to numerous casualties among the civilian population. The United States has informed its allies of the Iranian move over the past few days.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Iran may transfer ballistic missiles to Russia for the first time since the start of a full-scale invasion. This is confirmed by the intelligence data of several European countries.
Iran and Russia have been actively strengthening military cooperation since the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Although Iran denies providing military aid, admitting only to the delivery of a small number of Shahed 131/136 kamikaze drones before the invasion began.
US National Security Council representative Sean Savett expressed concern about Iran’s possible supply of Fath-360 ballistic missiles, calling it an escalation of the conflict. He noted that any transfer of such missiles would significantly increase support for Russia in its war against Ukraine.
“Any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would be a dramatic escalation of Iran’s support for Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.”Savetta is quoted by Reuters.
