Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal instructed the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience to speed up the procedure of booking clerics from mobilization. That’s what he’s about reported after a meeting with members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.
“In December 2024, the government opened the possibility of booking clerics. As of now, there are significant developments in this direction. Technical work remains. It tasked the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience to speed up the relevant procedures.” Shmyhal noted.
He emphasized that the Defense Forces of Ukraine need increased spiritual support, therefore it is important that the replacement of the posts of military chaplains by churches and religious organizations happens faster.
“There is a request that the process of filling the positions of military chaplains by churches and religious organizations should take place much faster”, – explained the head of the government.
As a reminder, on June 6, the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience approved the “List of legal entities – religious organizations that are critical for the functioning of the economy and ensuring the livelihood of the population in a special period.”
This list included a total of 7,726 legal entities – religious organizations that were checked for compliance with the established criteria. In particular, they must be entered in the Register of non-profit institutions and organizations and submit a report on the use of income for the previous reporting period.
