Sowing season 2025 is 20.6% behind last year’s

As of April 11, more than 1 million hectares of warm grain and leguminous crops were sown in Ukraine, which is 20.6% less compared to the same date last year, when this figure was 1.26 million hectares. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

According to the Ministry, 141,100 hectares have been sown with wheat. ha (last week — 116.5 thousand ha), barley — 612.2 thousand ha (against 551.8 thousand ha a week ago), peas – 182.8 thousand ha (164.3 thousand ha), oats — 106.1 thousand ha (82.3 thousand ha).

The largest volumes of sowing were recorded in Odesa, Ternopil, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv regions. In addition, 51,500 hectares have already been sown with sunflowers. ha (in the previous week — 33 thousand ha), sugar beet — 76 thousand. ha (64.8 thousand ha), soy — 4.5 thousand ha (2.6 thousand ha).

The ministry emphasized that in 2025, the total amount of spring grain and leguminous crops should exceed 5.7 million hectares, similar to 2024. The main difference of the current season will be an increase in the area under the warm wheat variety by 28%, up to 222.8 thousand. Ha. Such expansion is associated with stable demand from processing industry enterprises and exporters.

We will remind that as of April 12, 2024, 1.26 million hectares were sown, in particular, peas – 147.7 thousand. ha, barley – 683.4 thousand ha, wheat — 173.9 thousand ha, oats — 117 thousand Ha.
