SSU detains top managers of Odesa-based company that supplied energy equipment to Russia

On February 17, the Security Service of Ukraine detained in Odesa the founder and managers of a local company that supplied electrical equipment for Russian military facilities. About this informs SBU press center.

A total of seven people involved in the scheme were detained as part of the investigation. As the law enforcement officers established, the suspects supplied high-tech devices that ensure protection and uninterrupted operation of electrical networks. During 2023, they secretly sent several shipments of equipment worth more than $1 million to Russia. Controlled foreign companies, in particular in the Middle East, were used to implement the scheme.

“At first, the products of the Ukrainian manufacturer were exported to the addresses of foreign intermediaries, and then they forwarded them to Russian customers. Among them are companies under sanctions of the Russian Federation, which supply electrical equipment for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country, in particular for powering the military bases of the occupiers.” – the SBU explained.

During searches of the places of work and residence of the suspects, law enforcement officers seized documents, mobile phones and computers used in illegal activities.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators informed them of the suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: ch. 1 Art. 111-2 (assistance to the aggressor state) and ch. 1 and h. 2 Art. 255 (creation and management of a criminal organization, as well as participation in it). The suspects are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
