Starting from 2025, Ukrainians will be able to apply for reparations for Russia’s crimes

In 2025, the Register of Damages for Ukraine will begin to work in full, covering all 45 categories of claims for compensation for damages caused by Russian aggression. About this reported Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to him, the Register will include applications for reparations for persons who were forced to leave their homes, as well as for those who suffered damage to life and health. Currently, the Ministry of Digital Affairs team is finalizing work on legal and technical aspects to ensure full operation of the Register already in the first half of 2025.
“Back in April, they started collecting information about destroyed housing for the Register. The largest number of applications were received from the Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. This is an important mechanism, in fact, the basis for future reparations. The more statements, the clearer the world’s understanding of the damage Russia has caused to Ukraine.” Fedorov noted.
Among the main causes of damage, which are the basis for submitting applications, the minister named combat operations in the zone of active battles, artillery shelling, air attacks, occupation of populated areas and the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
