Russia used more than 400 chemical weapons in August
Russian troops continue to actively use special ammunition, which is equipped with dangerous chemical substances, against the Defense Forces of Ukraine. About this informs The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its latest review.
In August 2024 alone, 447 cases of the use of such ammunition were recorded. These chemical attacks involve the use of substances that can seriously affect the health of military personnel and civilians in the vicinity of a combat zone.
From the beginning of monitoring on February 15, 2023, until August 24, 2024, the total number of recorded cases of chemical ammunition use reached 4,035.
“Next to conventional means of fire damage, the enemy uses munitions equipped with dangerous chemical substances, such as K-51 and RG-VO, which are means of fighting riots and are prohibited for use as means of warfare. There is also a significant proportion of munitions containing dangerous chemical compounds of an unknown type. With this, Russia grossly violates the rules of warfare, ignores the norms and obligations of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction.”, says the message.
