Steel production increased in Ukraine after a six-month decline

In January 2025, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased the production of steel and cast iron. About this informs “Ukrmetalurgprom”
Average daily steel output rose to 19,700 tons, compared with 17,600 tons in December. This is the highest result since June 2024, when production reached 24,500 tons.
In general, in January, steel output increased by 12% compared to the previous month and amounted to 611,000 tons. Pig iron production increased by 5%, reaching 595,000 tons. At the same time, the production of rolled products decreased slightly – by 0.2%, amounting to 480,000 tons. In annual terms, compared to January 2024, steel production increased by 12.3%, pig iron – by 7.2%, and rolled products – by 6%.
We will remind that in 11 months of 2024, Ukrainian metallurgists produced 7.03 million tons of steel, which is 23% more than in the same period of the previous year. However, the decline in production continues for six months in a row.
