Sweden plans to raise the age limit for conscription for officers from 47 to 70

In Sweden, they plan to increase the maximum conscription age for former officers from 47 to 70 years. This provision is contained in the conclusion of the government commission, which analyzed the future model of staffing the country’s armed forces, informs SVT.
Currently, in Sweden, citizens who have undergone military training are subject to conscription until they reach the age of 47. The introduction of the “10-year limit” has led to mass dismissals from the ranks of the army, and therefore the government plans to abolish it. At the same time, for citizens who have served as professional officers or reserve officers for at least a year, government officials propose to raise the maximum conscription age to 70 years.
“If such a decision is made, those who have not served or trained for 10 years will be transferred to the personnel reserve, and from there they can be called up to the Swedish army as needed.”, the document says.
According to the current plan of the Ministry of Defense of Sweden, at least 10,000 conscripts will be trained every year by 2030, and in the future their number will increase to 12,000.
It will be recalled that in July it became known that Ukraine will receive another military aid from Sweden in the amount of 130 million euros. The package includes barrels for Archer artillery, long-range weapons, underwater vehicles and other weapons.
