Sweden provided Ukraine with 590 million hryvnias to strengthen cybersecurity

The Swedish International Development Agency Sida provided Ukraine with a new support package within the framework of the Tallinn Mechanism for over 590 million hryvnias. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The financial assistance will be aimed at modernizing the IT infrastructure, strengthening the cyber protection of digital products and conducting training for employees of key government institutions. The funds will come through the Estonian government fund ESTDEV, which is responsible for the management and implementation of international development and humanitarian aid projects. The Tallinn Mechanism is an international initiative that unites the efforts of 11 partner countries with the aim of strengthening Ukraine’s cyber resilience.

“The modern war continues not only on the battlefield, but also in cyberspace. In 2024 alone, more than 2,000 cyberattacks were carried out on the public sector and state bodies. Thanks to the support of Sida, we will implement projects so that the digital state works without interruption, and Ukrainians use online services under any conditions.”, – the Ministry of Statistics notes.

We will remind, in March, Sweden announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 16 billion Swedish kroner ($1.59 billion), which is the largest contribution from this country. Of these, 9.2 billion kroner will go to the purchase of equipment, which will be carried out under the leadership of the Swedish Defense Material Management.
