Sweden will provide Ukraine with the largest $1.6 billion aid package since 2022

The Swedish government announced a new, 19th package of support for Ukraine — the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war. The total amount of aid is SEK 16 billion (about US$1.6 billion). About this informs Swedish Television.

The assistance package includes:

  • 920 million dollars will be directed to military armaments, in particular probably to ammunition and air defense systems;
  • $500 million will go to funds and international coalitions that will purchase equipment for Ukraine’s needs;
  • another 50 million dollars will be allocated for the supply of machine guns, small-caliber ammunition, training weapons and medical vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Russia has the initiative in the war, and we must support Ukraine to break this trend.” – emphasized the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Paul Jonsson.

Sweden consistently supports Ukraine by providing military, financial and humanitarian aid. The list includes the supply of weapons, machinery, equipment, as well as participation in the training of the Ukrainian military and support of the domestic defense industry.

In addition, the country finances the restoration of infrastructure, demining projects and the provision of medical assistance to the victims. For example, the Swedish government recently provided an additional $7.57 million for demining and drones for Ukraine.
