The Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped the advance of the Russian army in the Sumy region, the front line is stabilized: Syrsky

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi statedthat the advance of the Russian army in the border areas of the Sumy region was stopped, and the front line was stabilized.
According to Sirskyi, Ukrainian troops are effectively using active defense tactics in certain directions and are conducting combat operations with the aim of liberating Ukrainian territories in the border zone of Sumy Oblast. On the North Slobozhan and Kursk directions, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repeatedly shackled approximately 50,000 Russian soldiers, among whom there are units of elite brigades of airborne troops and marines.
“Our offensive actions in the Glushki district of the Kursk region forced the enemy to send a certain part of the troops to defend their territory. This significantly reduced the offensive capabilities of the main grouping of the enemy’s troops in the Sumy direction”, – noted Syrskyi.
He also informed that a special group has been formed to strengthen the defense in the North Slobozhan region, which will be responsible for the protection of cities and communities of the Sumy region.
“The primary tasks are the strengthening of fortifications, the expansion of the system of engineering and fortification barriers”, – explained the commander-in-chief.
According to him, a responsible person has been appointed who will coordinate the preparation of settlements of Sumy Oblast for defense and control the effectiveness of engineering obstacles in the likely directions of enemy attack.
It will be recalled that on June 24, the State Border Service reported a decrease in the activity of Russian forces in the Sumy region, with the exception of certain areas near the communities of Yunakiv and Khotyn.
