Two policemen were shot dead in Vinnytsia

In Vinnytsia, on the night of Saturday, April 20, during a document check during the curfew, two men shot police officers – one died, the other police officer is in the hospital.

The prosecutor’s office reports that on April 20, around 1:40 a.m., near the village of Yalanets, Gaisyn district, Vinnytsia region, employees of the response sector of the patrol police of police department No. 1 of the Gaisyn district administration stopped a car. During the check, the passengers of the car used firearms. One police officer was killed, another was injured.

Currently, the site of the incident has been inspected, material evidence has been seized, and the involvement of two servicemen in the crime is being investigated.

U National Police reported that the person who died during the night attack was 20-year-old Maksym Zaretskyi.

Since 2021, he has been studying at the National Academy of Internal Affairs and for one and a half years he served faithfully in the response sector of the patrol police. He was the only son of his parents.

Currently, the police are looking for the persons who attacked the boys.

A photo of the wanted shooters appeared on social networks. As it turned out, they are father and son – Vitaly and Valery Vasilake. In the video from the policeman’s body camera, one of the suspects can be heard saying that he and his father serve in the 28th mechanized brigade. But the wanted persons are not servicemen of the 28th combined forces brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The command of the brigade officially denied this information and urged not to spread false information.

Investigators, criminologists and other specialized services are working at the scene. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 115 (Deliberate murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Search operations are ongoing with the aim of detaining the suspects.

Law enforcement officers ask citizens to refrain from spreading unverified information and trust only official sources.
