The Blue Ghost M1 mission is part of NASA’s Artemis program and the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, which delivers equipment for lunar exploration.

10 scientific instruments provided by NASA are placed on board the device. Firefly expects to last one lunar day (about 14 Earth days) before the cold lunar night depletes their power. It is expected that the obtained data will help in the preparation of future manned missions to the Moon.
