Blinken called Ukraine’s actions in the Kursk region “important for negotiations”

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine’s actions in Russia’s Kursk region will play a key role in any future negotiations. About this informs Barron`s.

“Their position in Kursk is important because that’s certainly something that will influence any negotiations that may take place next year.” Blinken said.

He emphasized that the administration of President Joe Biden seeks to provide Ukraine with the strongest possible position for negotiations. At the same time, the state secretary emphasized the need to provide adequate security guarantees for Ukraine even in the event of negotiations, as Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his opinion, will not give up his imperial ambitions.

“His imperial ambitions remain and what he will try to do is rest, re-equip and eventually attack again.”, Blinken emphasized.

We will remind that on January 5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine resumed offensive operations in several directions in the Kursk region. The units achieved certain tactical successes, although the advance of Russian troops was also observed. The operations of the Ukrainian forces came as a surprise to the enemy, and Russia expressed concern that the attack could be aimed at seizing the Kursk NPP.
