The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Ihor Smelyanskyi responsible for customs reforms

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced a new position – government commissioner for customs reform, to which Ihor Smilyanskyi was appointed. About this stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the government meeting.

“We are introducing the position of the government commissioner for the reform of customs bodies, who will coordinate the customs reform. This will be Ihor Smilyanskyi. We are also creating a coordination working group.” Shmyhal noted.

Among the key tasks that will be faced by the commissioner and the coordination group are the synchronization of the customs policy with the EU, modernization of the customs infrastructure, implementation of the system of risk-oriented approach and digitalization.

Permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk added, that the commissioner will be responsible for developing proposals for reforming customs authorities within the framework of the National Revenue Strategy until 2030.

He will also deal with the issues of involving civil society in the formation of customs policy, initiate the development of normative legal acts, analyze drafts of such documents and present relevant proposals to the government. In addition, the commissioner will participate in cooperation with international organizations for the implementation of recommendations and the formation of customs policy.
