The Cabinet of Ministers approved the distribution of salary subsidies for teachers

On July 14, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the allocation of 35 billion hryvnias of subventions, which in 2025 will be used to pay teachers’ wages and to modernize food units in schools. About this reported Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“Today, the government is making two decisions for Ukrainian education. We are allocating about 35 billion hryvnias of educational subsidies for the timely payment of salaries to teachers in September-December of this year. In addition, we are allocating over 158 million hryvnias for the modernization of school cafeterias.”Shmyhal noted.
Thus, in 2025, the education budget will amount to 167 billion hryvnias, which is less than in 2024, when it was almost 175 billion. The main part of the expenses – 103 billion – will be directed to the salaries of employees in the education sector.
It will be recalled that in November 2024, the Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi announced that in 2025 teachers’ salaries will increase by one thousand hryvnias.
In January 2024, a petition appeared on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding salary increases for teaching staff. Its author, Nadiya Kotok, asked to increase payments “to the level of European states” – 1,000–1,500 dollars. The petition received the necessary 25,000 signatures.
In a response published at the end of April, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that such an increase would require significant additional funding. According to him, in the conditions of martial law, raising salaries remains a difficult task, because all of the budget’s own revenues are primarily directed to the Armed Forces and defense.
