The Cabinet of Ministers approved the plan for the implementation of the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the implementation plan of the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine prepared by the Ministry of Defense. About this reported Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov, talking about the main directions and tasks of this document.
“This is an important step to strengthen the maritime security of our state. The document aims to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks and goals defined by the Strategy, which was approved by the National Security Council and put into effect by presidential decree.”, – noted Umyerov.
Among the key tasks of the plan, the minister singled out the following:
- increasing the capacity of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, including the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service, to counter aggression and respond to other threats;
- de-occupation of the temporarily occupied territories of the coast, inland waters and continental shelf;
- receiving compensation for damages caused by the aggressor and restoring the damaged sea and river infrastructure.
We will remind that in July of this year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree on the implementation of the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine, approved by the NSDC. This strategy was developed taking into account new challenges in the Black Sea region and is being implemented with the support of international partners.
The main goal of the Strategy is to make Ukraine a powerful maritime state. Oleksiy Danilov, the former secretary of the NSDC, called it “a question of further survival and development” of Ukraine.
