The Cabinet of Ministers extended the project for online issuance of logging tickets and certificates of origin of wood

The government has decided to extend the experimental project on the online issuance of a logging ticket and a certificate of wood origin until June 1, 2027. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
This project was introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers in May 2023 in order to prevent abuse and falsification of permit documents. It was also implemented to ensure complete transparency of the wood circulation — from the place of its harvesting to the moment of sale for export. The main goal is to combat illegal logging and eliminate shady schemes in the woodworking sector.
Over 153,500 logging tickets were issued in electronic format during the initiative. For comparison, in 2022, the State Forestry Agency issued about 38,000 such documents, and in 2021 – almost 59,000. In addition, 92,000 electronic certificates on the origin of wood were issued during the two years of project implementation.
“The transition to electronic permits ensured the transparent and efficient operation of the electronic wood accounting system (EOD). Thanks to this system, it is possible to quickly track the movement of wood at all stages of harvesting, as well as to see in real time the remains of forest products on each site.” – noted in the Ministry of Environment.
For the first time in the history of Ukraine, this project created an end-to-end digital mechanism for tracking the circulation of wood from harvesting to export. Such an initiative was positively evaluated by European partners. The European Commission recognized Ukraine as a low-risk country under the European Deforestation Prevention Regulation (EUDR), the highest status wood exporters to the EU can have.
