The Cabinet of Ministers granted veterans the right to lifelong provision of rehabilitation equipment
The Cabinet of Ministers has amended a resolution that regulates the procedure for providing rehabilitation aids for veterans, servicemen and women and people with disabilities. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy.
In particular, the government has simplified the procedure for replacing a part of the prosthesis, namely the receiving sleeve. This replacement is quite common among prosthetic veterans and military personnel.
From now on, such a replacement does not require the opinion of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team if the cost does not exceed 15% of the maximum price of the prosthesis. For the military, this norm is calculated with a threefold increase, and it remains in force regardless of the status of military service during treatment and rehabilitation.
Replacement will be carried out by the decision of the commission of the prosthetic and orthopaedic enterprise.
The government has also regulated the lifetime validity of referrals for rehabilitation aids (except for electric wheelchairs and electric scooters).
People with disabilities who have visual or hearing impairments can now receive compensation for self-purchased aids, such as a mobile phone or white cane, based on a document confirming their disability.
Earlier, members of the Azov military unit accused representatives of the Ministry of Social Policy of delays in providing prosthetics for the military. They pointed out that the ministry does not raise the maximum cost of prosthetics and does not change the relevant legislation, which is why the military and philanthropists have to find funding for the necessary prosthetics on their own without government support.
