On April 4, the Cabinet of Ministers expanded the functionality of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, giving it additional powers in the areas of digital innovation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technologies. According to the new amendments to the regulation on the Ministry of Digital, the ministry is now responsible for stimulating the development of the field of robotics, semiconductor technologies, as well as for supporting the Ukrainian production of robotics, unmanned systems and other innovative technologies, in particular in the field of defense.
The Ministry of Digitization also received the right to determine development priorities, ensure regulatory and legal regulation, and organize financial support for enterprises engaged in the development and production of relevant equipment.
In addition, the ministry will coordinate testing and research of samples, as well as create and maintain the appropriate infrastructure for testing and demonstrating robotic and unmanned systems. The department will also focus on the development of artificial intelligence in Ukraine.
It will be recalled that on February 14, the Cabinet of Ministers transferred the authority to regulate gambling and lotteries from the Gaming Business Commission (KRAIL) to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
