The Cabinet of Ministers has increased the deadline for concluding contracts for military chaplains

Candidates for military chaplain positions will now have six months instead of three to enter into a service contract. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Defense.
According to the government’s decision, the term of concluding a contract for candidates who received a mandate has been extended to six months. The procedure for providing copies of mandates has also been changed: now they will be issued directly by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, and not by religious organizations.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision according to which the military formations must inform not only the State Service for Ethnopolitics, but also the central bodies of the executive power about the dismissal of chaplains.
“These changes are not just an improvement of procedures, but concern for our soldiers who protect Ukraine every day. We strive to remove unnecessary obstacles and provide our defenders with any support, including spiritual support.” – noted Deputy Minister of Defense Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
The Ministry of Defense explained that the new rules are designed to solve problems related to delays in signing chaplain contracts and insufficient information to executive authorities. Such changes are expected to contribute to more efficient staffing of the Military Chaplaincy Service.
