The Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the process of registering volunteer cars for the military: Ministry of Social Policy

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for registering volunteer cars for military personnel, the Ministry of Social Policy has reported.
According to the report, the government has introduced a mechanism for temporary state registration of vehicles that the military receive as humanitarian aid and use to perform their duties. From now on, servicemen can register such vehicles in their own names and use them legally until the end of martial law and for another three months after it ends.
The Ministry also noted that this decision will promote transparency in the ownership of vehicles, regulate the possibility of travelling abroad and transferring such vehicles to other military personnel.
In order to register a vehicle for temporary use, a serviceman must submit the following documents to the service centre within 10 days after signing the acceptance certificate: an application, an identity document, a document on military service, an acceptance certificate of the prescribed form and a printed electronic declaration.
Servicemen and women who received vehicles as humanitarian aid from the beginning of December 2023 until the resolution comes into force have three months to register such vehicles at service centres on the basis of the above documents (acceptance certificates may be in any form). The registration procedure for cars transferred before December 2023 will be determined separately.
The ministry added that to facilitate the subsequent re-registration of the vehicle to other servicemen, the transfer and acceptance certificate may specify up to five servicemen who will have the right to drive the vehicle and re-register it for themselves.
After registration, the serviceman must notify his military unit or subdivision of the receipt and registration of the vehicle as humanitarian aid.
The temporary registration of a vehicle is terminated in the event of: destruction of the vehicle; death of a serviceman; suspension of service; declaring missing; capture; staying in hospital for more than a month; wanted in connection with unauthorised leaving of a military unit or desertion; dismissal from service; or transfer of the right to a vehicle to another serviceman.
In the event of these circumstances, temporary registration may be renewed at the request of one of the servicemen or women specified in the transfer and acceptance certificate. If such persons are not specified, the service centre shall notify the unit where the car owner served of the need for departmental registration of the vehicle.
