The Cabinet of Ministers supported the allocation of an additional 3.1 billion hryvnias for the purchase of medicines

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved changes to the state budget for 2025, providing an additional 3.1 billion hryvnias for the purchase of medicines. These funds will be directed to programs where there is currently a significant shortage of medicines, informs press service of the “Patients of Ukraine” charitable foundation.
Such a step of the government became unprecedented, because such a decision is adopted for the first time in the middle of the budget year.
“In extremely difficult conditions, these 3 billion hryvnias are a critically important resource for patients. At the same time, this is only a part of the real need: the total amount of underfunding of drug purchases is 8 billion hryvnias. However, the patient community is not going to stop. We strive for all patients to receive vital medicines.” – emphasized in the fund.
In order to fully cover the needs of patients in 2026, another 5 billion hryvnias are needed.
“Now it’s the Verkhovna Rada’s turn. We call on the deputies to support the changes to the budget – this decision will directly affect the lives of thousands of Ukrainians with serious illnesses.” – added in “Patients of Ukraine”.
We will remind you that at the end of May 2025, a draft law was submitted to the parliament, which provides for the allocation of an additional 8.6 billion hryvnias for the purchase of medicines. According to the chairman of the committee Mykhailo Radutskyi, the available funding covers only about 60% of the total need.
