A new virus is spreading in the Telegram messenger, which disguises itself as a video file and steals user data. About this informs Center for countering disinformation (TCD).
According to experts, the virus is usually spread through fake bots. When trying to open a video file, an error message appears asking to update Telegram or install a video player. After clicking on the link, attackers gain access to all user data, including passwords.
“Never open suspicious files or install unknown updates!” – warns the Central Bureau of Statistics.
We will remind that in December 2024, it was reported that fraudsters used another method to obtain personal data. They sent messages about a supposed “gift” in the form of a premium subscription, which must be activated via a link.
