The composition of the 30th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition (UAE), which will work at the Akademik Vernadsky station from March 2025 to April 2026, has been officially approved. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.
“There are 13 participants in the new expedition. In particular, 8 scientists (3 meteorologists, 3 biologists and 2 geophysicists) and 5 representatives of the life support team: a system administrator, a diesel operator, a mechanic, a doctor and a cook. There will be four women in the expedition: this is the same number as in the current 29th UAE”. – the message says.
The 30th UAE will be headed by Ukrainian polar explorer and meteorologist Oleksandr Poluden, who previously worked at the Akademik Vernadskyi station as part of five-year expeditions as an ozonometer.
“The 30th UAE will conduct geophysical, meteorological and biological research in the Antarctic, as well as ensure the operation of the Akademik Vernadskyi station, – the ministry added.
We will remind that currently 14 participants of the 29th UAE work at the station, including four women – a doctor, a biologist, a meteorologist and a geophysicist. This team included 10 newcomers and four experienced polar explorers.
