22% of Ukrainian media actively use artificial intelligence: IMI survey

According to the results of a survey conducted by the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) from June 11 to 24, 2024, only 22% of Ukrainian journalists regularly use artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their work. Another 30% of respondents indicated that they sometimes use AI, while 20% do not use such tools at all.
Among those using AI, the most popular features are:
- Interview transcription (62%)
- Creation of visual content (31%)
- Correction of errors in texts (21%)
- Writing articles and other materials (21%)
- Headline and Lead Generation (19%)
- Other functions, such as text optimization, data analysis, preparation of interview questions and media monitoring, are also used by journalists.
The survey was conducted using a quantitative anonymous online survey among journalists and editors from all regions of Ukraine. A total of 50 responses were received. The Institute of Mass Information conducts free trainings for journalists, where they talk about various AI tools and how they can be effectively used in work.
