Pechersk District Court of Kyiv continued the term of the preventive measure in the form of detention for Ihor Kolomoiskyi in the case of the contract killing of lawyer Serhiy Karpenko is until July 4, 2025.
The prosecutor’s office filed a motion to extend the preventive measure for another 60 days without determining the amount of the bail. Kolomoisky’s lawyers, like himself, asked the court not to grant this request, calling it groundless and baseless.
At the preliminary stage, the prosecutor added five volumes containing testimony and expert opinions to the case file. Ihor Kolomoiskyi was notified of the suspicion in May 2024 by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the investigation, he ordered the murder of the director of the legal company, motivating it by personal revenge due to the failure to comply with the requirements to annul the decisions of the general meeting of shareholders of one of the open joint-stock companies. The events took place in Feodosia, on the territory of Crimea.
We will remind that in 2005 Ihor Kolomoiskyi was charged with attempted murder of lawyer Serhii Karpenko, which, according to the investigation, was connected with the lawyer’s refusal to follow his instructions in the corporate conflict surrounding the Zaporizhia enterprise “Dniprospetsstal”. However, already in the same year, the case was closed under unclear circumstances.
