Ukrainian delegation arrived in South Korea to negotiate arms supplies

This week, a Ukrainian delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is in South Korea, where it is negotiating military support to counter Russian aggression. About this informs Reuters agency.

The Ukrainian delegation has already held a meeting with South Korea’s National Security Adviser Shin Won Sik, during which they discussed the current situation in Ukraine. The delegation also plans to meet with the President of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol.

The official government of South Korea has not yet confirmed the fact of the visit. Representatives of the presidential administration and the Ministry of Defense declined to comment.

Earlier, during a conference with representatives of the defense departments of Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Poland, Umerov emphasized the urgent need for modern air defense systems and additional ammunition. This is due to the strengthening of Russian attacks on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

Although South Korea is one of the world’s leading arms producers, Seoul remains cautious about supplying lethal military aid. Currently, the main focus is on providing non-lethal aid, such as demining equipment, but the country is under increasing pressure from Ukraine and Western allies to change this position.
