The court extended round-the-clock house arrest for MP Tyshchenko

The Kyiv Court of Appeals decided to place People’s Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko under 24-hour house arrest. About this informs press office found.

Despite the fact that the name of the suspect has not been specified, it is obvious from the details of the case that it is about Tyshchenko.

On November 12, the court reviewed the appeal against the decision of September 19, which ruled that Tyshchenko should remain under house arrest at least until November 16. The court dismissed the appeal and upheld the initial decision.

The State Bureau of Investigation declared the deputy a suspect under Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping. If found guilty, Tyshchenko faces up to 5 years in prison.

In this case, back in June, the court decided to take Tyshchenko’s bodyguard into custody for two months without the possibility of making bail, and in September this preventive measure was extended until November 16.

Tyshchenko’s defense emphasizes the unfoundedness of the suspicion and notes that the selected preventive measure may negatively affect the work of the parliament due to a possible lack of votes during the adoption of important draft laws.
