Poroshenko paid 9 million hryvnias as bail for ex-intelligence officer Chervinsky
The investigation previously accused him of exceeding official authority

Roman Chervinsky has been in custody since the spring of last year. Yesterday, the court decided to release him on bail in the amount of 9 million hryvnias.
“I couldn’t wait, that’s why the entire deposit of 9 million hryvnias for the freedom of Roman Chervinskyi was paid in the morning”Poroshenko said.
The Petro Poroshenko Charitable Fund is indicated as the payer in the documents. He expressed hope that Chervinskyi will be released from the pretrial detention center today.
Roman Chervinskyi is a former acting commander of one of the units of the Special Operations Forces. He is accused of involvement in the enemy shelling of the Kanatove airfield.
On April 21, 2023, the SBU reported that it had declared suspicion against a military officer whose actions allegedly led to casualties and the destruction of equipment after shelling the Kanatove airfield in the Kirovohrad region. The military serviceman is charged with violation of Part 5 of Art. 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official authority by a military official.
According to the investigation, Chervinskyi arbitrarily decided to conduct a special operation and seize an enemy plane, recruiting a Russian pilot for this. The head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, noted that the operation was not approved by state authorities, as it “concealed many risks.”
In November 2023, an American newspaper reported that Chervinsky may be involved in the undermining of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, a sabotage that Ukraine officially denies. The press did not provide evidence and referred to anonymous sources. Chervinsky denies these accusations.
Chervinsky himself considers the criminal case against him to be politically motivated. He believes that the investigation may be related to his statements in 2021 about the failure of the operation with the Wagnerites.
