The court issued a verdict in the case of a serial killer who operated in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions

Holosiivsky District Court of Kyiv passed a sentence of life imprisonment to a citizen of Uzbekistan who committed a series of brutal murders in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions over several years.

With the support of the prosecution from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the court found the man guilty of the murder of 11 people and attempted murder of one more committed between February 2018 and January 2024. The convict, a citizen of Uzbekistan without permanent residence, took the lives of three women and eight men. He tried to kill another person, but was unable to complete his plan.

The arrest took place after the events of January 2024, when a man, pretending to be a buyer, entered a flower shop in the Holosiivsky district of Kyiv and stabbed the shopkeeper more than thirty times, after which he stole her gold jewelry and fled. He was quickly arrested on suspicion of committing this crime.

After the arrest, the suspect pleaded guilty and began to describe in detail other crimes he had committed earlier. According to him, he met homeless women, drank alcohol with them, and then killed them. Most of the bodies were found in circumstances that made it difficult to determine the exact cause of death.

The accused remembered all his victims and hoped that sincere confessions would influence the court’s decision. However, the court, after considering all the evidence, found him guilty on all charges and imposed the most severe sanction provided for by the law – life imprisonment. The convict is currently in custody.
