The Czech government approved a state program to train Ukrainian F-16 pilots worth 32 million crowns

The government of the Czech Republic, after considering the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, approved the training program for Ukrainian F-16 pilots. According to the government’s decision, the state enterprise LOM Praha will conduct 150 hours of flight training for eight Ukrainian pilots by the end of this year. The total cost of education is approximately 32 million kroner. All expenses will be financed from the approved budget of the Ministry of Defense.

“Pilots will be trained on F-16 aircraft, which the Czech army does not have in service, but the Ukrainian side has also expressed interest in training on simulators and subsonic L-39 aircraft,” – says the message.

The Ministry of Defense also emphasized that the training of Ukrainian pilots is part of the support that the Czech Republic provides to Ukraine and its Armed Forces in the fight against Russian aggression.

“If Ukraine wants to continue to effectively defend itself against Russian aggression, it needs not only military equipment, but also a well-trained Armed Forces, including the Air Force. The Czech Republic is aware of its responsibility, and the constant support of Ukraine also corresponds to its strategic interests.”, — said Minister of Defense Yana Chernokhova.

As a reminder, on June 12, a two-year training project for Ukrainian civil pilots ended in the Czech Republic, during which 18 Ukrainians received European pilot licenses that meet EU standards.

The project was implemented with the participation of academic and private Czech organizations. In particular, the Czech Technical University in Prague developed educational materials in accordance with European standards and conducted a differential analysis of the Ukrainian curriculum. The practical part of the training was conducted at the F-AIR flight school at the airfields in Karlovy Vary and Benešov.
