The Department of the Nature Reserve Fund of the Ministry of Environment was headed by an official without specialized education

The Department of the Nature Reserve Fund of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine was headed by Edgar Tokar, who has no specialized education or experience in the field of environmental protection. Prior to that, he held the position of head of the Transcarpathian Regional Employment Center. About the presentation of the new head of the team reported in the Ministry of Environment.

“It is very likely that this is a new incompetent appointment to strengthen the opposition of the Ministry of the Environment to the eco-community, which is sidelined against the latter in their effort to protect the protected Carpathian highlands from destruction by construction works under hundreds of windmills and reference mountain rivers from construction by cascades of MHPs.” – expressed Olena Mudra, an investigative journalist from Transcarpathia, shares her opinion on this matter.

At public events of the Ministry of Environment, the head of the department, Svitlana Grynchuk, has repeatedly noted that a large amount of work, particularly related to European integration, is entrusted to the small staff of the ministry. This raises questions about the effectiveness of the team’s work, when officials without appropriate education or experience in the field of environmental protection are appointed to management positions.

We remind you that on January 24, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine accepted the resignation of the first deputy minister of environment protection and natural resources Olena Kramarenko. Eco-activists assumed that the dismissal could be related to the fact that the official had signed an order the day before to stop the OVD procedure for the construction of windmills in Runa’s meadow in Transcarpathia.
