Ukrainian company will mine coal in Poland

Coal Energy, owned by Ukrainian businessman Viktor Vyshnievetsky, has signed a letter of intent to cooperate with the Polish mining company Siltech (Zakład Górniczy Siltech) regarding the lease of its real estate and coal mining. About this it is said on the official website of Coal Energy.

The purpose of the cooperation is to obtain a permit for the development of coal deposits that border on those already owned by the Siltech company. Coal Energy plans to use Siltech’s existing infrastructure for mining, which will significantly reduce start-up time and avoid the costs of building a new mine.

Leasing is scheduled to begin at the end of 2025 — after the completion of the procedure for obtaining the necessary licenses for the development of the relevant fields. Siltech is a private mine located in the town of Zabrze in western Poland.

Coal Energy is a company registered in Luxembourg. Before the start of the full-scale war, she was active in the Donetsk region, where she managed several mines. The company recently sold its last mine in Ukraine, named after Svyatia Motrona in Toretsk (also known as Novodzerzhynska), after which it moved its operations to Poland, where it is developing the direction of providing mining services.
