The entire civilian population of Ukraine will be prepared for war: OP

Ukraine is developing a new system of national resistance, which involves preparing for war not only the military, but also the entire civilian population. About this stated Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President.

“The relevant law-making strategy was discussed in the President’s Office. There were representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the command and general staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Education. There were also representatives of the public sector who undertook to help us in the preparation of draft laws and by-laws. I thank them very much.” Vereshchuk explained.

According to her, relevant documents will be sent to the Verkhovna Rada already in May, which will require the support of people’s deputies.

“It’s not just about changes in legislation. We are creating a new ecosystem of training the entire civilian population for enemy resistance. This is in addition to and parallel to the basic military training of men for military service. Because a strong state is not only an army, it is a society that is ready for challenges.” — emphasized the deputy head of the OP.

We will remind that in Ukraine, women will be able to voluntarily undergo basic military training. After its completion, they will be put on military registration under the same conditions as men. The Committee on National Security recommended the approval of the government’s draft law No. 12076, which regulates the process of registering and undergoing basic military training for both sexes.

According to the draft law, women who meet the age and health requirements will be able to undergo training voluntarily. Before it begins, they will be included in the list of conscripts, and after passing – automatically transferred to the list of conscripts.

Starting September 1, 2025, basic military training will be mandatory for eligible men and voluntary for women who wish to join. This initiative is part of the reform, which provides for the end of military service in 2025 and the transition to new formats of training of the defense reserve.
