The EU refuses to increase electricity imports for Ukraine

In recent months, relevant proposals have been received from Ukraine, but the operator of the transmission system ENTSO-E refuses to increase the import of electricity without explaining the reasons.

Due to the presence of its own problems in the energy system, the Energy Union of the European Union refuses to increase the import of electricity for Ukraine.  About this reported on Ranok.LIVE, the head of the Union of Utilities Consumers Oleg Popenko.

According to him, over the past few months, Ukraine has sent relevant proposals, but the operator of the transmission system ENTSO-E refuses to increase the import of electricity, while not giving reasons.

“Last week, there was a certain failure in the energy system of the European Union, when the cost of electricity in Germany reached €500 for 1 MW. This, for the sake of understanding, 1 kW cost 20 UAH there, when we pay 4 UAH 32 kopecks with you. Therefore, the European Union is in no hurry to increase our volumes, they have their own problems”, — explained the head of the Union of Utilities Consumers.

At the same time, the leading expert on energy issues, Mykhailo Gonchar, called the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector critical and noted that the difficulties may be even greater in winter. Since it is currently unknown what will be possible to restore from the destroyed facilities, as well as what other energy attacks the enemy may inflict.

According to Oleksandr Kharchenko, head of the Energy Research Center, the only factor capable of seriously changing the situation is the de-occupation and return to operation of the Zaporizhia NPP occupied by Russian troops. This is the only thing that can change the forecasts of a lack of light for 8-10 hours a day and provide Ukraine with the necessary amount of electricity that will allow to avoid restrictions.
