The ex-head of the Kyiv metro was put on the wanted list

Former head of KP “Kyiv Metropoliten” Viktor Braginskyi declared wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as a person evading pre-trial investigation. The date of his disappearance is indicated as June 20, 2024.
In November 2024, the prosecutor’s office charged him with official negligence (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, the inspector failed to fulfill a number of duties to ensure the safety of subway facilities.
In particular, he did not assess the risks of emergency situations, did not take measures to extend the service life of structures and prevent their defects, and also did not appoint a commission to inspect and inspect problematic structures and stations of the Obolonsko-Teremkiv metro line.
The result of these violations was the gradual destruction of individual parts of the tunnels, which led to water leakage, the appearance of cracks and stalactites, as well as damage to the waterproofing. As a result, on December 8, 2023, a decision was made to stop train traffic on the section between the “Lybidska” and “Demiivska” stations.
According to estimates, Braginskyi’s negligence caused losses to the city budget in the amount of over UAH 138.5 million. In addition, KP “Kyiv Metropoliten” did not receive revenues in the amount of almost UAH 26 million due to the closure of stations. On March 15, 2024, Braginsky was dismissed from the position of director of the metro after ten years in this position.
