The film “Anora” won the Academy Award for Best Film

The film “Anora” by the American director Sean Baker won the Academy Award in the category “Best Film”. The 97th Academy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. About this informs DW.

The picture tells the love story of the son of a Russian oligarch and a stripper. Director Sean Baker also won Best Director, while lead actress Mikey Madison won Best Actress.

In addition, “Anora” was awarded in the nominations “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Editing”.

As for other awards, the Best Actor award went to Adrien Brody for his role in the movie Brutalist. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Kieran Culkin won for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s True Pain.

The screenplay for the film “Conclave” directed by Edward Berger was recognized as the best adapted screenplay. In the nomination “Best International Feature Film” the Brazilian film “I’m Still Here” directed by Walter Salles won.

The award for “Best Supporting Actress” went to Zoe Saldana for her role in the film “Emilia Perez”. The film “Substance” won the prize for “Best Makeup and Hairstyle”, and the musical “Wicked: Enchantress” won the award for “Best Production Design and Costumes”.

In the Best Documentary Feature category, the Israeli-Palestinian film No Other Land, which was previously honored at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival, won.
