South Korea wants to take away soldiers of the DPRK army who were captured by Ukrainian

The government of South Korea plans to hold consultations with Ukraine regarding the transfer of North Korean servicemen captured by Ukrainian forces. It is reported agency Yonhap.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, Lee Jae-un, said this while commenting on the words of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, regarding the two North Korean soldiers captured in the Kursk region.

“Since the North Korean soldiers are our citizens according to the constitution, the government plans to negotiate with Ukraine if they ask for extradition to South Korea”, – noted Lee Jae-un.

According to the Constitution of South Korea, the entire Korean peninsula is considered its territory, and residents of North Korea have the status of citizens of South Korea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that none of the captured military personnel from North Korea has so far expressed a desire to move to South Korea.
