The law enforcement officers exposed the head of the contracting organization, which caused more than 3.8 million hryvnias of damage to the state during the repair of the Uzhgorod airfield. Based on the collected evidence, he was declared a suspect, informs press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Zakarpattia Oblast, the contractor performed repair work in 2021 in the amount of more than 43 million hryvnias. In order to obtain illegal profit, fictitious data on the volume of work performed and materials used were entered into the documentation – they were significantly overstated. After that, the documents signed by the manager were sent to the regional council for payment.
According to the conclusions of the law enforcement officers, the difference between the actually performed works and the financed ones amounted to more than 3.8 million hryvnias.
Based on the collected evidence, the head of the contracting organization was declared suspicious. He is accused of 5th century 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (seizure of someone else’s property in particularly large amounts by a group of persons following a prior conspiracy) and ch. 1 Art. 366 (official forgery).
Further efforts are underway to identify all those involved in this scheme. The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. Investigations were carried out jointly with the SBU in Zakarpattia Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Zakarpattia Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
