Netanyahu and Gallant are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the events in the Gaza Strip. “The Chamber issued arrest warrants for two individuals, Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least October 8, 2023, to at least May 20, 2024, the day the prosecutor’s office requested the arrest warrants.”, the message says
Among the consequences of their actions are the deaths of civilians due to malnutrition and dehydration, as well as serious suffering caused by the lack of medical care, including operations without anesthesia.
The day before, the chief prosecutor of the ICC, Karim Khan, officially requested the issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant and three leaders of the Palestinian movement Hamas. The issuance of the warrants means Netanyahu and Gallant cannot visit any of the 120 countries that have ratified the Rome Statute without risking arrest.
